The Nicoya Peninsula, north of Guanacaste, is part of a list of regions worldwide called Blue Zones that offer increased life longevity.
With a length of 4.100km (2.5 miles approximately) and an approximate population with little over 130,000 inhabitants, the Nicoya Peninsula has around five thousand people over the age of 75- many of whom are also over the age of 90.
